It's cool.

@Damos ~ First of all, nowhere in this post does the person state that he/she is Jewish, or use a racial slur against Italians. The only reference to greasy anything was about the food.
However, apparently, as long as racism is directed at JEWS, it's cool with you? So, if a person of unidentified ethnicity was first deeply offended at numerous racist comments about African Americans, & then assaulted for calling the person out on their words, would you feel the same? Or are you just a straight up anti-Semite? If so, please, state it a bit more clearly so that we all know where you stand. You were a little vague in your comment...NOT!

Now now, loyal subjects. This is no time to quibble amongst one another. Ye all hath but one common goal - entertaining ME.

You'd be my no. 1 student.

Not really, no. For reasons of wanting to maintain some level of anonymity, i'm sure it was requested that a photo of the house NOT be published. Which is perfectly understandable.

And thank you for sharing here. You do know that there are many places that you can go to get the support that is vital on the hard fucking road ahead, right? Not only AA, but Rational Recovery, which is not as cultish & religiously oriented. And there are many more.
You've made it through the first 3 days, & after 12 yrs. of daily drinking, you are probably in the clear as far as having seizures. But alcohol is one of the only drugs that does require medically supervised detox, because it can actually kill you. You might want to consider one of the detox programs in the area. Hooper is one, but i have not heard the greatest things about them. i have been to TRC in Tigard, & i had a really positive, supportive & compassionate experience there. But, there are others.
Beyond that, let me just say that i feel your pain & i know your struggle. Alcoholism destroys everything in our lives & we are left with nothing but solitude & self loathing. That is why support programs exist. On our own, we are left to face all that we have lost & destroyed with no one to tell us that sobriety is worth it, & that life is worth living. That there is beauty & that we are stronger for all that we have been through. And that support & camaraderie can serve as a powerful antidote to the loneliness, the misery & the fucked up fact that our drug of choice is ever present. Everywhere. Just going to the grocery store is a hard trip down craving lane.
It is possible. But it is nearly impossible alone. So, please, do seek out help & support. And you should really & truly acknowledge the strength that it has taken to make it this far. You can make it...You can have a life once more. Blessings.

Pts, perhaps YOU'RE more tolerant of someone else's shitty nasty ass right in YOUR face. But most folks aren't quite as open-minded.

Sorry, but kind of crass to compare this situation to a stupid Hollywood flick.
Anyways, i so hope that this doesn't become yet another "suicidal person murdered by cop". Hopefully they've learned something in the last few days, years...ok, maybe not.
Still, they did a great job dealing with John Griffin. i knew him well & he is not a violent man, but he is seriously mentally ill. i was so relieved to learn that he came out of it alive. THAT is how it should be done. Whoever this person is, i hope that they fare as well. And they don't end up as yet another PPB murder.

Mr. Savage is totally off with his advice to Mired in the Mud. i've been in a similar situation. Thankfully not ass, but pretty bad nonetheless. i said nothing for a long time, until i realized that if i didn't let him know that there was a problem, the next girl that he was with might not be too kind. So, i very kindly & compassionately let him know that something foul was going on & he needed to pay extra attention to that area. His pride was a bit wounded, but he got over it. And the problem was solved. If i had freaked the fuck out like Dan suggests, he would have been crushed & traumatized.
We all have bodies, & all of our bodies excrete. i don't tear myself up for having excretions, so why would i do that to someone else? Particularly in a relationship. A little humor, compassion & communication go a long way.

This Blogtown stalker loves Recap for Poor People. It's nice to know the commenters I love to follow, love P&R as much as I do, and I love it a lot. Why arn't Donna and Jerry in the opening credits? blasphemy I say.

@1~ No, you're not the only one. i found it pretty harrowing, but sadly appropriate.
i just want to say this ~ i spent several years living on the streets of Portland, as a very young teenager; 13-16 years old. Most of the girls that i knew prostituted to make money. And they did drugs to escape from the reality that they were living. And they had to prostitute to make the money to do the drugs. While there were a few hardcore, fringe girls who had been pulled into a scene that i stayed far away from, we all knew what was going on & who these people were. And most girls knew to stay away from them. They tried, at least. But, those guys were everywhere. And their 14 yr. old salesgirls trying to bring in fresh kids was really effective. Everyone, all of these kids, are hooked on something. And the offer from a fellow kid to do some free dope & have have a warm room for a night is pretty attractive. It usually ends badly...
So 2 things ~ First of all, the kids ( & it IS boys & girls ) see the cops as the enemy, as bad guys, because they ARE! They bust them for petty possession & prostitution. They harass them, they threaten to turn them in as runaways. When most of these kids are on the streets because they are fleeing from abusive homes, how the hell are the cops helping these kids?
Second ~ i really hope that this shelter is dealing with addiction. It is a primary cause for what holds kids, & keeps them into adulthood.
Also, i was really sickened when i read that parental consent was needed to stay in the shelter. Really, if you knew some of the stories of what these kids are running away from...Funny, though. Aren't you opposed to parental consent for a minor having an abortion? Why assume this situation would be so different?

Apparently, one can create a Lovelab profile, for free. However, if you would like to actually interact with another human on said site, you must pay. Like any other similar site, i guess. i learned this from The Stranger. i find Lovelab to be not even worthy of a laugh. So, perhaps the Mercury has a different policy. Who knows? Who cares?
